About Photo Shoot
  • These is a restyled Project Runway look that based on research was designed by Leanne Marshall of Project Runway season 5
  • These photos were glamour shots, so they were shot using a white background
  • This dress was chosen because of the beautiful shadows it creates and the avant garde nature of the pleats
  • This dress was a part of an alternative challenge, and is made out of napkins that have been sewn together to create the seashell effect
  • The styling was kept very simple by just pairing House of Harlow 1960 earrings
  • This photo shoot was photographed by Miki Harai
  • This photo was styled and modeled by Maddie Tabor
"The most amazing model, I had too much fun photographing her!"
    -Miki Harai, Photographer

It was an honor to be able to model this garment and be able to work with such talented photographers.

Overview:
  • Took place on November 15th 2013 at local San Francisco Fashion school.
  • The photo shoot was inspired by Helena Bonham Carter's character Marla Singer; the strong-willed female lead of the cult classic film, Fight Club (1999).
  • A past season Project Runway garment was used in this photo shoot and although the designer could not be identified, the piece is comparable to Season 11 contestant Richard Hallmarq’s work.
  • The entire production was student styled, modeled and photographed.
  • This was a collaborative project that brought numerous students together to recreate past a Project Runway garment and bring it new life.

Project Runway Mystery Style Shoot

By: Taiisha Kasai

Oh how edgy are these glamorous shots? This past quarter I got the opportunity to play stylist and create high-fashion looks with designs featured on past episodes of Project Runway. The goal was to breathe new life into these garments while incorporating our own sense of style into the look. With pieces from designers Jay Nicolas Sario, Uli Herzner and others, my classmates and I were truly inspired to rummage around and find the perfect items for our visions. For my looks I envisioned a strong fiery goddess, and her counterpart, a softer, edgier version of the goddess. I found a beautifully stitched red, black, and orange patent leather corset that I knew would look fabulous with a pair of my black leather short-shorts from Forever 21. I wanted small accents of gold jewelry and a smooth ponytail to focus solely on the corset, and black buckle wedge shoes. For my softer look, I found a snakeskin textured leather bolero jacket, and a pair of cream high waisted leggings with a beautiful screenprint of butterflies cascading down the side of the legs. I chose a high ponytail, chunky jewelry and chunky tan Steve Madden wedges to add a glam element to this edgy look. After weeks of research, I was unable to find the designers responsible for these pieces! So as they remain a mystery, we can still admire and guess who this beautiful work belongs to. My best friend Nicole served as my gorgeous model and muse, and my friend Tiffany provided hair and makeup. All shots provided by photography student Gabriella Herrera!

Red Hotness

Hello, this is my second photo shoot. I am Devi Ratnasari, a Fashion Marketing & Management student. I have participated in a photo-shoot with the garments that I styled for Project Runway Season 7, which let me create a different style and gave a new look for this photo-shoot. The beautiful, Haeni Ulfa had modeled for the shoot.
This time I got helped by two extremely talented photographers, Kenny and Blyth who were exceptionally co-operative and we totally had a blast on the sets. This is this the second time I shot with Ulfa and we had a wonderful time working together on make-up and designing the props in order to match the theme for our photo shoot.

I have been highly inspired by the concept of Spanish Rose and Gatsby 1920s make-up tutorials by the talents You Tuber, Michelle Phan. She started her tutorials for makeup long ago; she has flawless skin and can exactly predict what would suit Asian women. One of the best looks would be to don a red outfit with red lips and smokey eyes; this sort of make up would truly complement each other.

The beautiful backless dress designed by Ben Chmura from Project Runway Season 7. Many of his early works are tied to literary themes including collections inspired by Wizard of Oz, Little Red Riding Hood, the established designers such as Nicholas Gheisquiere and Marc Jacobs. The garment is beautifully executed and has a quirky side to it, Ben has used pop art print for inside of the garment and it gives an amazing final finish with the garments red hue.

hello glamour!

I am so excited to have been given the chance to do another shoot with Project Runway garments! This time I chose a dress by Casanova who designed this garment during All Stars. On the show, the garment came with a gold belt which I decided to take away during the shoot to add more emphasis on the beautiful embroidery on this dress as well as to create more a subtle and feminine look, totally opposite of my other photoshoot. My model for this dress, is my very own classmate, Devi. Devi naturally has beautiful eyes and skintone that I felt would bring out the tones of this garment, and so it did! I kept this look very feminine, classy, and wanted to do a typical glamour/head shot. My photographer for this was Lyn Aldana, who did a perfect job at capturing the beauty of this garment and my model.
