Curvy-Friday!!!

Ladies,

Look here, you don't have to be a size ZERO or TWO or THREE not even EIGHT to feel beautiful. The numbers we worry about that so-calls says how we eat and look is nothing but a 1,2,3...statement of a Big nothing that SHOULD have no saying on who we are as a person. On my way home yesterday I overheard a group of girls in their teens (16yrs at the most) mocking and making fun of a young lady who was well off her late twenties. She appeared shy and taken back by the ignorant and childishly rude comments made by these girls. As I sat there helpless and unable to just stand up and say something,i began thinking of how we view each other with all these labels. It's disturbing really! My point is...if you are a size zero and your happy that way good for you...and if you are a plus size girl with curves to flaunt, stand up for yourself. Not everyone can do what you do best and that's just being YOU:) Embrace your curves and continue to live a healthy life....

For the Men,

Don't measure up your girl with the wrong kind of numbers. Her dress size shouldn't bother you just like your pant or shoe size don't to her. Your focus is solely on her character, beauty, intelligence, kindness, strengths and so much more but never how big or small she is. Appearances is a lot of things but certainly not for measurement tapes and scales.

If we start appreciating each other just the way we are, we can definitely change society's way of thinking that often sparks the pressure of looking like a magazine doll. I'm not saying that its bad to mimic that however we cannot expect that the rest of the world to look a certain way.We are different because we are and that we CAN.

"A successful person is one who can lay a firm foundation with the bricks that others throw at him or her"
~David Brinkley

PR CLASS LUNCHIN' AT THE 10UN BISTRO

Potato-Celery Root Puree, Avocado-Radish Salsa, Green Almond Sauce(it was delicious!!! ola says so...!)

"Welcome Ms.Kweskin...enjoy your lunch Ms Kweskin...pardon me Ms Kweskin" such warming remarks from the student who was our waiter, Adolphus. The scenery was uplifting and soothing to us all. We glanced around to notice family groups, students and a couple who were there to celebrate a 92 year old birthday. Adolphus seated us just across from the open kitchen where all the decision makings and creativity occurred. It was mind blowing to witness everything happening just as if we were having lunch in any fancy restaurant out here in SF. If you happen to be around in the area and have time on your hand, why don't you try out our 10UN Bistro..because I tell you...it is crazy beautiful and very satisfying. We got to create our own memories by sharing our untold stories as to how far we've come with our studies, jobs and life in general. The moment was incredibly divine and what a great place to be in.
Classmates: Ryan, Asheeta, Narranda, Monty and Ola
Instructor: Ms Amy Kweskin
This was our class's way of biding one of ours farewell who will be moving on to the next level in life...Narranda will be graduating in a week and we wish her all the best.BIG CONGRATS NARRANDA! Thank you Amy for making this happen. Ask any of us and we will tell you that 10UN Bistro made it happen for us and it can do the same for you and yours.

Monty At The Bistro 10UN!

 Hello Everyone!
This is Monty from the Public Relations and Promotions Class here at The Art Institute of California- San Francisco! I wanted to give a very special shout out to our school's Culinary Department. Today our class dined at the fabulous Bistro 10UN , which is the restaurant hosted by students of Culinary Management. I really enjoyed my lunch and the service I received. Each dish was rich with flavor, content and color. I started with a Shaved Spring mix of Vegetables topped with Lemon Vinaigrette. For my main course I chose to have Sautéed Shrimp, Potatoe-Celery Root Purée, Avacado-Radish Salsa and a Green Almond Sauce. For dessert I had a Strawberry Short Cake w/ Whipped Creme Fraiche, Fried Mint and an Assortment of Berries! Can you say yummy? I can't wait to see what they'll be serving at the StyleWOW Fashion Show!

10UN Bistro: Narranda

English Pea Soup, Ginger, Spring, Onion, Mint oil
Grilled Natural Chicken Breast with Spinach, Kale, Herb Ju
Sauteed Shrimp, Potato-Celery Root Puree, Avocado-Radish Salsa, Green Almond Sauce

I had the most beautiful experienced with my instructor Ms. Amy Kweskin, my classmates, Ryan, Monty, Ola and Ashneeta at the 10UN Bistro.  The service was great and the food was excellent.  My glass of water was never left empty, and the food was very delicious.  The restaurant was spacious and very clean.  The chef even came out and talked to us.  It was awesome!  Will I go back to 10UN Bistro again?  YES!  As an Alumni!

Katy Buchmueller

About Katy:
Katy is originally from Amsterdam but grew up just outside of Cleveland, Ohio in a liberal town called Lakewood. She discovered her passion for fashion after visiting a seamstress aunt back home in Amsterdam. There she willingly watched her aunt sew. After that Summer, Katy was enthusiastic about making her own clothes and thus a designer was born. Katy has her lovely aunt to thank for the point towards the right path.

What are your inspirations?
The two main elements that drive my entire collection is surfing and the deep blue Ocean. The power of the sea makes me channel every aspect of it to create a sporty yet feminine array of clothing.

Who is your role model and why?
Katy stated that apart from the obvious ones like her family and friends. In terms of the fashion world, she always looked up to the late Yves Saint Laurent. She continues to explain that it was his determination to build a name of for himself that sparked her attention and perhaps is her fuel for staying motivated.

What are your plans for the future?
Graduating is the first thing on Katy's mind at this point. She hopes that that would be a stepping stone to reaching other dreams like potentially working for a respectable company in their design department. Katy is hopeful of the future and is excited to see what it has in store for her.

Which designer would you love to work with and why?
As an innovative designer herself, Katy is thrilled at the idea of working with either Rodarte or Proenza Schouler. She believes that each designer is impeccably astonishing at what they do best. Rodarte for their extraordinary kniting techniques and Proenza for their astounding and refreshing prints.

Come to the StyleWOW! Fashion Show on June 15th at the S.F Design Center. For Tickets: stylewow.brownpapertickets.com. Come see Katy's entire collection and more!
