Project 'Fight Club' Kicked Some Ass at Local Fashion School Photo Shoot

Project Runway Garments Reused in New Ways for San Francisco Fashion School

Overview:

• Took place on November 15^th 2013 at local San Francisco Fashion school. 
• The photo shoot was inspired by Helena Bonham Carter's character Marla Singer; the strong-willed female lead of the cult classic film, Fight Club (1999).
• A past season Project Runway garment was used in this photo shoot and although the designer could not be identified, the piece is comparable to Season 11 contestant Richard Hallmarq’s work.
• The entire production was student styled, modeled and photographed.
• This was a collaborative project that brought numerous students together to recreate past a Project Runway garment and bring it new life.

hello glamour!

I am so excited to have been given the chance to do another shoot with Project Runway garments! This time I chose a dress by Casanova who designed this garment during All Stars. On the show, the garment came with a gold belt which I decided to take away during the shoot to add more emphasis on the beautiful embroidery on this dress as well as to create more a subtle and feminine look, totally opposite of my other photoshoot. My model for this dress, is my very own classmate, Devi. Devi naturally has beautiful eyes and skintone that I felt would bring out the tones of this garment, and so it did! I kept this look very feminine, classy, and wanted to do a typical glamour/head shot. My photographer for this was Lyn Aldana, who did a perfect job at capturing the beauty of this garment and my model.

Robotique Majestique

 Project Runway re-styled. I fell in love with this dress at fist sight. The purpose of re-styling these garments was to bring a different life to them. I feel that this dress has been under appreciated, and I wanted to put it in the spotlight. The material and color are electrifying. The look I was going for for this shoot was very robotic and was inspired by two music groups Daft Punk and Ghostland Observatory. Nic Candito was the photographer for this shoot and he did an amazing job and our ideas collaborated well together. We are both very pleased with the way the images came out.

 

 

Project Runway, Re-Vamped!

 All us fashionistas can agree on one thing, we know Project Runway! Fan or not, this hit TV show has given us fashion reality TV like no other show! The opportunities for new emerging fashion designers to really show what they got on the TV show runway every week for many seasons has become a real popular show for fashion lovers. We've only once seen these hundreds and hundreds of these garments on the runway once and forgot how many exquisite garments have been designed on this show. These designs need to come out of the dark and into new light, styled, shared with the fans and fashion lovers, all re-vamped! I've had the amazing opportunity to visit some of the Project Runway garments and pick some pieces out to style them and shoot them for a collaboration school project! In a New Light:

As a Fashion Marketing& Management student I enjoy doing projects where I can get creative and show case my styling skills. I was excited to hear that my PR and Promotions class would have a chance to choose garments from past Project Runway contestants. It was love at first sight when I saw the beautiful goddess inspired Bert Keeter dress. I chose this dress for the Rim Lighting photo shoot because the dress had some metallic elements to it which I knew would photograph beautifully.

This dress designed by Bert Keeter was so beautiful and I felt that adding  some texture would make the dress even more glamorous so I added my own personal mixed fur vest. The vest added a sophisticated element to the look. As for accessories and shoes I wanted to go for that golden goddess element but a little rough around the edges so, I added a necklace that was edgy paired along with a color cocktail ring. The shoes I used were simple but the strap around the ankle had glitter. This dress is the perfect dress where you can totally dress it up or dress it down.

My inspiration behind the entire look I put together was glamorous girl meets rocker chic. I felt like those two looks coming together would make the dress look completely different and bring it out in a new light for the public to see. Styling this garment was so much fun because it has so much potential.

Project Runway's Photo Shoot!

I am Devi Ratnasari, a Fashion Marketing & Management Student in San Francisco. In Fashion, my main interest is styling and photography. I participated in an interesting photo shoot with garments I styled from Project Runway, which allowed me to play with my creativity and make the garment become more stylish and fashion forward. From the photo shoot, I had an opportunity to create different look and style for my model. The person who modeled for this project is Haeni Ulfa or also known as Ulfa. She is my high school friend. Her photogenic and camera-friendly looks are the reasons why I called her to be a part of this project. Gabriela Herrera is the photographer who is responsible taking the photos behind this work. She is fun and easy-going to work with. I am glad that she is able to my vision come true.

My styling idea and inspiration come from the classic beauty who also known as India most fashion “it” girl, Sonam Kapoor, who has beautiful features for traditional and modern look at the same time. She is a natural beauty someone who can pull off any versatile looks depending on the given theme. For make-up, I applied smokey eyes look and light pink lip-gloss and a wavy natural hair for my model. I keep it low on the hair mainly to highlight the make-up and enhance the garment.

That garment that I use for rim lighting photo shoot is from the designer Janeane Marie Ceccanti, She was the contestant from Project Runway Season 7, most of her design influences come from literature and history, music, art and earth science and space. She likes making garments that are beautiful and well crafted and environmentally friendly, she is a fan of Riccardo Tisci’s work for Givenchy.

Project Runway, Revamped!

Hi everyone! My name is Barbara Regala and I am currently majoring in Fashion Marketing and Management. My PR class had the opportunity to take clothes from previous Project Runway seasons, and give new life to the wardrobe we picked and styled. Our class then partnered with a photography class, and I was given the opportunity to partner with Nic Candito as my photographer for my shoot. The jacket I styled, is by Jerell Scott, who was featured on the 2^nd season of Project Runway, and created this jacket for Project Runway All Stars.

The transformation.

While I had researched the garment, the jacket was presented in a totally different way than what I had in mine. In the show, the jacket was paired with a below-the-knee skirt, and and a beehive up-do, very conservative. When I came across the jacket, I was taken away with the amount of detail the jacket had, and how extraordinary it was just by itself. Given the amount of popularity street-wear has become, I wanted a model who had a bad-ass attitude, someone who is greatly influence by art and culture, someone who wasn’t afraid to take risks, and someone who is confident and loves a great piece of art. My classmate, Jordan Overstreet, was the perfect person to illustrate that persona which I felt she would bring justice to the beauty of the garment. The styling of this jacket was pretty easy for me, it required no garment to be worn underneath the jacket, messy low-bun do, and dark red lip-stick, all to work best against the dark rim.
