A New Beginning for Nike Free Runs

How It All Began...

So how did the Nike Free Run shoes come about? Ten years ago designers of Nike Free Run shoes Tobie Hatfield and Eric Avar visited a university where they saw athletes on the golf course training barefoot. It was then they decided to take their study back to the Nike campus and design a shoe that would let your feet move naturally and freely.

A Little About the Nike Free Family...

What others may not know is overtime Nike Free Run shoes help your feet get stronger. The lower the offset the more strength you are using because it offers more of that barefoot sensation. The Nike Free 3.0 Flyknit offers the most flexibility to give you more of your natural foot’s movement. The Nike Free 4.0 Flyknit provides flexibility with more cushioning than the 3.0, and with an eight-millimeter offset the Nike Free 5.0 is a medium between natural flexibility and a traditional running shoe.

Ten Years Later…

The 2014 Nike Free collection is set to release in-store and online April 3rd. With improvements in technology, the collection features three significant developments in Nike Free since its 2004 launch. The innovative Nike Free 3.0 Flyknit, Nike Free 4.0 Flyknit, and Nike Free 5.0 features Nike’s first hexagonal flex-groove pattern which delivers a multi-directional flexibility and helping enable the athlete's foot to move more freely in all directions.

The second development is the anatomically-shaped heel which is designed to roll as the athlete’s foot hits the ground. This aims to allow the foot and body to move more naturally. The last, but certainly not least development is Nike Flyknit. The most innovative technology yet, Flywire is an ultra-light polyester fabric that provides areas of stretch when needed, along with support and breathability to help the foot move freely in all directions. The Nike Flywire is also effortlessly integrated where support is needed.
